MODERN DAY REFRIGERATION

Refrigeration today is not simple as in the past.  For years we used 3 refrigerants for about 90% of all equipment.  Today there are at least 20 different refrigerants commonly used.  Many of these refrigerants are still on the EPA phase out list. 

Caution must be used on choosing a service company that is not familiar with all the refrigerants and refrigerant oils in the market today. 

All refrigerants must be used within the proper temperature range and be used with a compatible refrigerant oil.  All refrigerants are designed for a specific purpose and chemically compatible with the oils being used. 

So many different companies are trying to come up with the refrigerant of the future and have saturated the refrigeration market with a smorgasbord of varying chemical compounds.  Worst of all, with so many different chemicals this puts a responsibility on the service technician to label not only the refrigerant in the systems but the oil in the system also. Many systems do not function properly due to poor servicing and a major part is nobody knows what is in the system for the person on the job before.
